ARTIST NAME
Shanon Playford

WHAT TO EXPECT
Shanon's "tall" paintings explore individual narratives on panels dimensioned in human aspect ratio -- that is, tall and skinny. The paintings can be seen as film strips of dreams, lives, and captured moments. In her work, Shanon uses her own elaborate iconography of repeating objects, signs and symbols that work to both reveal and obscure her subjects. Executed in oil, collage plays a central role -- both compositionally and through the actual use of other media including paper, wire, tacks, and acetate.

In addition to a brand new series of Tall Tales, Shanon will also present her affordable Singles series, prints, one-off paintings, older work, hand-painted match boxes and more.

For the Portland Art Open, the rooms of Shanon's Alberta neighborhood home are transformed into gallery space.

An elaborate Reception and Art Party will be held Friday Evening beginning at 6:00 PM.
General public invited!
